Where: 633 E. Cabrillo Blvd. (inside Fess Parker’s DoubleTree Resort), 884-8554, rodneyssteakhouse.com.

What: Fine resort dining with a menu put together from high-grade ingredients and regional sources.

How much: Starters $12-$16; 14-oz. rib eye $34; 16-oz. prime rib $40; cold-water lobster tail market price.

The dish: Fess Parker’s beachfront DoubleTree Resort is home to Rodney’s Steakhouse, whose prime-aged beef and swimmingly fresh seafood attract locals and tourists alike. Superior grade USDA-approved steaks make the cut with the perfect degree of tenderness, concentrated flavor, and deliciously even marbling. The stylishly modern and well-lit interior flaunts its decor of geometric patterns, skylights, and elegant white tablecloth-covered dining tables. A closely managed staff can recite and recommend menu items that range from decadently rich lobster bisque or French onion soup to splurge-worthy Kobe beef tenderloin. Steaks and chops are char-grilled and available with a choice of sauce. la carte sides accompany main dishes, allowing guests to build their own meal. Appetizers, such as a delicate ahi tartar with wasabi crme fra®che or escargot, should not be missed and are recommended to go along with a quality selection of Central Coast wines.
