In order to remain competitive, the city will for the first time offer monetary inducements to airlines for new or expanded nonstop service from the Santa Barbara Airport. Airport directors Karen Ramsdell and Hazel Johns estimated that a $34,000 investment, in the form of waived landing fees, would yield $105,000 in airport revenues from concessions sold to passengers, including rental cars, parking, and food.
