Congressmember Lois Capps wrote new U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder demanding he make the Drug Enforcement Agency stop threatening real estate owners who lease or rent to medicinal marijuana dispensaries. Medical marijuana is legal under California law, but not under federal statute. However, Capps said such actions violate the new hands-off policy articulated by President Barack Obama and noted that DEA agents threatened Santa Barbara landlords involved with dispensaries as recently as 1/7.
