The Goleta Water District formally responded last week to UCSB’s latest Draft Environmental Impact Report for planned growth through 2025. District interim manager Eric Ford outlined several discrepancies between the school’s assessment of water resources it had available and what actually exists, as well as possible problems the plan might cause regarding the ordinances mandating on-reserve water levels in case of drought. Asked by city staff to prioritize 13 of the City of Goleta’s goals and their related objectives on 3/30, Goleta City Council members went through the list to determine which should be done immediately and which could be postponed. The objectives ran the gamut from urban forestry to mobile homes, and the updated list will be available from city staff before the council’s May budget hearing.
