Renowned geography scholar Reginald Golledge, 71, died on 5/29, ending a teaching career at UCSB that began in 1977. A statement from UCSB credited Golledge as a pioneer in the study of behavioral human geography who helped elevate the department to one of the best in the nation. An informal memorial is planned for 1 p.m. on 6/6 at UCSB’s Faculty Club.

UC President Mark Yudof announced last week a planned 5-percent pay cut for all senior UC leaders in lieu of additional budget cuts made by the state at the end of May. Senior leaders include Yudof, all executive and senior vice presidents, the general council and vice president-legal affairs, all chancellors, and all executive vice chancellors. Pay cuts will be effective for the 2009-10 year.
