East Beach Washes Up in La Arcada

Longtime Milpas Street Bottleshop Moves to Heart of Downtown Santa Barbara

In a town where the North 101 drives toward the sunset, the Mission isn’t on Mission Street, and Downtown Brewing is on upper State Street, it sort of makes sense that East Beach Wine Co. has moved downtown (1114 State St., Ste. 24, 899-1535). After 10 years on Milpas Street, actually near East Beach, owners David and Linda Cable have moved into the former Entenza Modern Classics space in La Arcada, providing them room for an upstairs tasting area, a main floor filled with wines both local and international, and a downstairs with more room for wine storage than their old location. The new spot right by the turtle fountain will give that much more old-time Santa Barbara charm to East Beach’s daily wine tastings and Friday-evening visits from winemakers and winery owners. In fact, wines from famed importer Kermit Lynch will be featured on Friday, October 9, from 4 to 7 p.m. That tasting will be hosted by Antonio Gardella of the Henry Wine Group.
