New Delivery Service Brings Healthy Lunch

Mon Jan 04, 2010 | 06:00am

So you want to eat organic, support local agriculture, and feel better about what fuels you. But you don’t know how, don’t have the time, and have dreams of deep-fried things that you just can’t shake. The new service Organic Living Santa Barbara (252-8217, organiclivingsb.com) might be just for you. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, they deliver fresh, organic lunches to your door for $9, or $11 for those who burn more calories (you active people know who you are).

Gary Douville and Kim Lyons started the business to make the guesswork of eating well disappear with a knock on your door. What’s more, they boast of the Surprise Meal Model-that is, you won’t know what you’re getting ’til that lunch, but it could be things like white bean, arugula, and beets wrapped in a pita and topped with balsamic vinaigrette served with couscous or Greek fish/tofu with tomato and fennel over lemon dill rice pilaf (yes, they’re prepared to make meals for vegans and vegetarians). They also provide catering, an idea sure to make your clients very happy that next lunch.
