The Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board announced last week that it will be studying the possibility of regulating discharges from irrigated agricultural land. The study is designed to examine any environmental impacts caused by the runoff. The board maintained that contaminated irrigation runoff percolating into the groundwater is a well-documented phenomenon in the Central Coast region and limits water usage.
