The body of Jerry Ray Greene, a 41-year-old Santa Barbara resident, was found in the surf on 4/12 just before 8 a.m. about 200 feet west of Stearns Wharf. Authorities have identified drowning as the cause of death, and there was no visible trauma or signs of foul play. A boat owner informed authorities that he had arranged for Greene to recover a skiff that had broken free from a larger boat anchored offshore the evening of 4/11. That skiff was found floating unattended later that night—a particularly stormy night—partially deflated and with the motor missing.
