In 1970, on the first Earth Day, millions of young environmental activists came together on college campuses around the country and, through their organized efforts, helped enact enormous change in the name of environmental protection, including the passage of the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts.
Forty years later, environmental activists are better organized and far better at throwing a party.
Just look at UC Santa Barbara’s Environmental Affairs Board. On April 24, the student group greeted Earth Day in true Isla Vista fashion: with music, dancing, organic food, and, of course, free tattoos.
