Claudia Cabrera, who was driving when her sedan struck and killed USC student and Santa Barbara native Adrianna Bachan,18, in Los Angeles on 3/29/09, was sentenced to eight years in state prison on 5/24, the maximum allowable by law after she pleaded no contest to a felony hit and run and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. Cabrera’s husband, Josue Luna, was sentenced to seven years in prison. He allegedly pulled the body of a second student off the vehicle after the collision, as the student had become wedged in the windshield. The two fled the scene but were arrested in the weeks following.
