Trail Workers Get Community Service

Dana Larsen and Craig Ilenstine were sentenced to community service for not having proper equipment for brush-clearing activities, a charge stemming from the DA’s Office investigation of the Jesusita Fire. Attorneys for the two said they acted with good intent, and when they left the scene where they had been clearing brush along the Jesusita Trail, there was no fire. Judge Jean Dandona, who handed down the sentence despite a plea from the prosecution for jail time, had earlier dismissed a more serious count which could’ve led to the two being responsible for criminal restitution.
