Unlikely Duo Heads Jail Tax Campaign

In a surprising marriage of opposites, campaign consultant Jeremy Lindaman—who has consulted for Sheriff Bill Brown—is teaming up with former S.B. School Board member and past Santa Barbara County Taxpayer’s Association board president (and frequent News-Press editorial page filler) Lanny Ebenstein to run the Measure S campaign. The measure, to be voted on in November, would add a half-cent sales tax to raise money for a new county jail facility. Neither has been involved in running campaigns in which supermajorities are needed, but the combo is perhaps the start of bringing together support from all ends of the political spectrum, which would be necessary for the measure to pass.
