UCSB Gets Cash for Trail Repair

The Coastal Conservancy authorized the allocation of $175,000 to UCSB this week to repair a section of coastal accessway that runs from the southeast end of Campus Point up to the bluff-top pathway between the Campus Lagoon and the ocean. The sandy 30-foot slope, which is crisscrossed with informal footpaths that have degraded to the point where they’re legitimately dangerous to navigate, will be fitted with a an elevated staircase that’ll incorporate erosion control features.
