Undocumented youth looking to attend college got a bit of good news this week in the form of a $5,000 grant—courtesy of the Fund for Santa Barbara—that went to the AB 540 Coalition of Santa Barbara.

Taking its name from the 2001 Assembly bill, which allows some undocumented youth to pursue higher education at California public colleges while paying in-state tuition, the coalition said it will use the money to launch a Web site with comprehensive information on financial aid, admissions, legal considerations, as well as local resources and events. The cash, said representatives, will also be put toward training seminars to teach educators about the Assembly bill and how it affects undocumented young people.
