TastingRoom.com Makes Wine Easy

New Internet-Based Tasting Program Allows Affordable Sampling

Because you can’t judge a wine by its label, exploring new wine for the recreational wino can be a daunting, money-wasting, unsavory experience. Through such a dilemma, though, TastingRoom.com has discovered its mission: To bring wineries’ tasting rooms into your living room (or any room, really).

As much as great winemaking will remain relatively traditional, the website certainly makes the most out of technology; taking advantage of the Internet’s lightning-speed communication and what its founders call their T.A.S.T.E. Technology (or Total Anaerobic Sample Transfer Environment), TastingRoom.com assembles wine tasting kits for 17 different California wineries. Wannabe tasters (and, for now, California residents only) can visit the site and order a sampler, which will cost between $20 and $25. Each 50mL mini-bottle features a mini-label complete with its winemaker’s tasting notes, wine-pairing suggestions, and tasting tips.

TastingRoom.com could definitely be on top of a major new wine industry trend, and is a fun way to spend a night in. So whether you haven’t had time to visit the tasting room or you’re understandably not ready to commit to just one potentially insipid bottle of wine, TastingRoom.com caters to your desires.
