Santa Barbara Birth Center settled on its new home this week: 2958 State Street. Located six blocks from Cottage Hospital, the nonprofit center—which touts itself as a blend between the two options currently offered to area childbearing moms, Cottage Hospital and home birth—will have dedicated birthing rooms with queen beds, birthing tubs, and other amenities. The hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit will be readily available for families who require medical attention, said representatives, and women will be attended by the same licensed midwives throughout their pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum. The center is hoping to raise $60,000 in funding to begin immediate renovations, and is hosting an Open House on 10/31.
