Five UCSB students were flown out of Egypt this week after the U.S. State Department issued a travel advisory for the troubled region. They were part of a larger 19-member group of University of California students, may of whom were scheduled to start a semester abroad program at the American University in Cairo (AUC). In addition, a team of archeology students, faculty, and staff from UCLA was on a dig 200 miles south of Cairo. Everyone was transported to Barcelona and are expected to return to California later this week.
