Ruling Upheld Against Adoption Scammer’s Ex-wife

The California Court of Appeal affirmed Judge George Eskin’s judgment denying Christen Brown’s third party claim to assets seized when Orson Mozes—convicted adoption scammer—was arrested in 2009. Brown—Mozes’s ex-wife—was trying to claim her child support order superseded restitution for the victims of his crime. Eskin said, however, that the victims of Mozes’s scam were the only ones with “legitimately acquired interests” in the money, thought to be in excess of $300,000.
