For successfully instructing the students of Harding University Partnership School in how to reduce their environmental impacts, Stephen MacIntosh was awarded a Harding Hero award at a zero-waste fundraiser last Sunday in Montecito. Formerly the environmental services supervisor for the city of Santa Barbara and currently the general manager of Allied Waste Services, MacIntosh turned Harding’s cafeteria into the first zero-waste cafeteria in the state. He also helped institute recycling and composting measures which keep 92 percent of Harding’s waste out of landfills.
