Santa Barbara authorities are investigating an armed robbery that took place last night, May 9, at the 76 Gas Station on Winchester Canyon Road, said Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Drew Sugars.

The clerk told officers that just before 8:30 p.m., the suspect — described as a white male in his early twenties, 5′ 5”-5′ 7” in height, approximately 130-150 pounds, with brown eyes — walked through the station’s back door. He pointed a black semi-automatic handgun at the clerk and demanded money. The clerk complied.

During the exchange, said Sugars, the suspect also pointed the gun at two nearby customers. He then left on foot and headed eastbound. Deputies searched the area, but weren’t able to locate him.

The suspect was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, blue khaki pants, and a white cloth wrapped around his face, said Sugars.
