<em>Indy</em> Dispute Heads to Trial

A legal dispute between Marianne Partridge, editor-in-chief of The Santa Barbara Independent, and Randy Campbell, publisher and majority owner of the paper, will go to trial on 8/1. Partridge filed suit against Campbell in February 2010 for breach of contract—specific performance, breach of the implied covenant of good faith, and fair dealing and breach of fiduciary duty—over Campbell’s alleged offer to sell his 51 percent share of the company. Campbell responded, filing a cross-complaint for breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing against Partridge.
