Federal Government Gives 700K to Airport

Just weeks after opening a brand-new terminal, the Santa Barbara Airport is welcoming a $700,000 grant from the federal government to pay for updating its master plan. The money, which comes from the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program and was announced by Representative Lois Capps, comes strictly from fees that are paid by airline travelers and not from taxpayers. Over the past 10 years, the airport has benefited from $65 million in these funds.
