The Santa Barbara School District has been awarded a three-year $1.2 million grant from the federal Department of Education’s Elementary and Secondary School Counseling Demonstration Program to expand counseling resources in five elementary schools: Adams, Cleveland, Franklin, Harding, and McKinley. According to Representative Lois Capps, who announced the grants, recipient campuses will be able to hire more counselors, collaborate better with mental health organizations, and support parental involvement, all to help students with emotional and behavioral problems.
