Police Chief Cam Sanchez was honored by the Turner Foundation, a faith-based nonprofit, for agreeing to locate a quasi-police substation in a Westside apartment building it had renovated. While Sanchez — and other police officials — have been leery of police substations for a host of logistical reasons, he agreed to work with the Turner Foundation in 2006.
