The Sheriff’s Department received a $20,000 gift from an anonymous resident for the purchase and training of a new canine. The department’s dog pack had once swelled to four members but is now down to two with one pup set to retire in the coming year-and-a-half. The new dog is expected to serve in the department for three to five years, and will accompany an on-duty patrol deputy.
