Where: 1028 Coast Village Road, Montecito; (805) 969-3550.

What: Reopening about a year and a half after a devastating fire shut it down for remodeling.

How Much: Cheesy scrambled-egg breakfast sandwich: $10.99 (comes with fruit and potatoes).

The Dish: When Sepi Mashhoon purchased Xanadu from its previous owner in 2008, she could never have foreseen the 2010 attic fire that caused it to shut down for a complete year-long-plus remodel. Xanadu, located inside of Montecito’s quaint Coast Village Road shopping center, sustained extensive damage. Because of Mashhoon’s dedication, Santa Barbara can once again enjoy the delicate European pastries housed in glass display cases, cheesy croissant breakfast sandwiches, and rich mochas. The incredibly extensive range of pastries and menu remains the same, as well as the bulk of the staff, making the bakery a familiar spot for patrons who frequented the dainty establishment before the destructive fire.
