Highway 192 will be closed for the next one-and-a-half to two weeks due to a giant sinkhole that developed Wednesday at the intersection with Westmont Road, said Caltrans officials.
During the closure, drivers can take a detour along Sycamore Canyon Road, Alameda Padre Serra, and Barker Pass Road. There are electronic notices about the closure on the road, and the California Highway Patrol is helping to mediate any traffic.
In addition to fixing the sinkhole — which Caltrans said is three feet in diameter — a San Luis Obispo-based construction company will be checking the underground utilities and replacing a ruined drainage culvert.
