Enrollment in city-run camp and recreational programs swelled by 26 percent this summer, with 564 more kids signing up for a host of programs over the previous year, bringing this year’s total to 2,711. Aquacamp saw a big jump, from 78 last year to 233 this year, and gymnastics more than doubled from 46 last year to 109 this summer. City Parks and Recreation czar Nancy Rapp said her department worked hard to develop programs with contemporary appeal and cited the popularity of the geo-caching camp, which teaches campers how to conduct treasure hunts using GIS devices. Revenue kept pace with rising enrollment, rising by 27 percent.
