A 41-year-old homeless woman is in critical condition after she was hit by a car on lower Milpas Street near Quinientos Street.

The accident occurred at around 7:30 p.m. when the woman, riding a bicycle, was hit by a Dodge Charger travelling northbound, said Sgt. Mike McGrew.

The victim suffered severe head trauma and is on life support. It’s not yet clear if she was riding across the road or travelling with traffic, but there’s no indication the driver was under the influence. He’s been fully cooperative with authorities, said McGrew.

Investigators are currently on the scene piecing together the details of the accident. The victim’s name won’t be released until her family is notified.

CORRECTION: A previous version of this story referenced an edhat.com blog post about a vehicle vs. bicycle collision that occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night that also left the bicyclist with severe head injuries. The incident edhat.com reported on, however, occurred at a completely separate location and is unrelated to this story. We apologize for the confusion.
