Santa Barbara City College is boasting a balanced budget and with the passage of Proposition 30 and 39 tax hikes, President Lori Gaskin said she is “guardedly optimistic” about the future. While state funding decreased this past year, the college held the fort with a nearly $1.7 million bump in international and out-of-state tuition. The relatively rosy budget situation could lead to two summer sessions in 2014. Last year, SBCC administration floated the idea of cutting its one summer session.
