Jackson to Present Anti-Obesity Measure

State Sen. Hannah-Beth Jackson will present an obesity-fighting measure to the education committee on 4/10 that proposes standards for physical activity, “screen time,” and nutrition at publicly funded day cares and after-school programs. Jackson said that Senate Bill 464 — which limits the time looking at computer or television screens for kids between 2 and 5 to an hour a day and none at all for those younger — will save money in health-care costs and improve the quality of life for children. “This is just common sense,” she said.
