Santa Barbara start-up business ShipHawk beat out about 70 other start-ups to win an audience choice award at the TechCrunch Disrupt competition held in New York 4/29-5/1. The company allows users to instantly receive shipping quotes from several carriers at once and arrange for pickup, shipping, and packaging. Its cofounders, Jeremy Bodenhamer and Aaron Freeman, describe it as Kayak for shipping. They began beta-testing the online application, shiphawk.com, this week.
