Highway 101 northbound traffic at a standstill at 5 p.m. with a sky full of smoke from a small brush fire in the 4000 block of Highway 154 (June 28, 2013)

Just minutes after it began, a vehicle fire that sparked at around 5 p.m. in the 4000 block of Highway 154 and spread to nearby brush was doused by Santa Barbara County and U.S. Forest Service firefighters. Approximately half an acre of vegetation was burned, but no injuries were reported. Because of the currently warm and dry weather conditions, fire crews are up-staffed, meaning there are more people on duty and on full alert to dispatch at a moment’s notice.
