Gainey Vineyards Limited Selection Chardonnay 2011: One of the Santa Ynez Valley’s pioneering winemaking families, the Gaineys have been growing grapes on their Home Ranch along Highway 246 since 1983 and, in the early 1990s, planted the Evan’s Ranch and Esperanza vineyards along Santa Rosa Road in what would become the Sta. Rita Hills appellation. That’s the source of this chardonnay, whose lemon butter nose presents a familiar but not overly oaked chard character.
