The Santa Barbara School Board has agreed to a matching grant of $625,000 for the first phase of upgrades on the Dos Pueblos High School stadium that’ll include installing a new synthetic field and resurfacing the running track. The new field, say school officials, will save up to a million gallons of water a year and eliminate costs associated with consistently reseeding and replanting overworn turf. So far, the school’s fundraising arm has raised $200,000. Once this round of work is completed, DP also plans to add a press box, visitors’ restroom, concession stand, new plaza entrance, and meeting rooms at a total cost of $3 million.
