A vegetation fire broke out shortly after 4 p.m. at the upper end of Cieneguitas Road across the street from a new home under construction and just north of the Santa Barbara Community Church. Skateboarders coming down the road from the area told Sheriff’s Deputies that they had seen a brown car doing spin arounds, or doughnuts, in the area right before the fire started.

Santa Barbara County fire crews were quickly on the scene and within minutes had put the fire out. Burning in dry grasses 12-15″ in height, with little wind, the fire area was no more than a half acre in size when the crews began establishing a hand line around it.
