Reyes Winery Sierra Palona Valley Syrah 2009: About 45 minutes north of downtown L.A., halfway between Santa Clarita and Lancaster, lies the Sierra Palona Valley, one of America’s newest wine growing appellations.

Pushing the region hardest is Reyes Winery, which grows 16 acres of vine in the tiny town of Agua Dulce, including this quaffable syrah, whose forward berries are cut with tart-enough tannins.
