Buellton resident Juan Diaz, 35, was arrested Tuesday for allegedly recording videos on his cell phone of women in a restroom at the Santa Ynez Valley assisted-living facility where he worked as a custodian.

A female employee at the residence called authorities after she found a cell phone in the ventilation system in one of the restrooms. After she turned over the phone to police, they found several videos of staff and residents changing their clothes in at least two restrooms from the last several months. Officials determined the phone belonged to Diaz.

Deputies later searched Diaz’s residence and found possible evidence related to other crimes. The investigation is still ongoing, according to a statement released by Sheriff’s spokesperson Kelly Hoover. Diaz was charged with elder abused and unauthorized recordings, and the case has been turned over to the District Attorney’s Office.
