According to figures released by the City of Santa Barbara, hotels received more than $2 million in transient occupancy tax revenue in August and $1.5 million in September, bringing the total for the current fiscal year to $5.6 million — all double-digit increases from last year’s respective numbers. The city also reported nearly $20 million in sales taxes for the 2013 fiscal year, a 3.3 percent jump from the previous period but less than the state’s 6.2 percent increase.
