Carr Sangiovese

Carr Winery Santa Ynez Valley Sangiovese 2010: Santa Barbara County’s many microclimates offer ideal growing conditions for almost every wine grape imaginable, and Ryan Carr exploits that potential with this sangiovese, pulled from two small vineyards, Vandale and Fiore, in the middle of the Santa Ynez Valley.

The wine is phenomenally smooth and flavorful, with tarry earth and licorice on the nose and spiced plum on the palate.

It’s one of many to be found at the Urban Wine Trail’s upcoming Summer Celebration, May 30-June 1, featuring a seminar, grand tasting, and all-access passport to Santa Barbara’s urban wineries. See carrwinery.com and urbanwinetrailsb.com.
