The Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office is hosting a Marrow Donor Registry Drive this Friday to help 38-year-old Deputy Trevor Carpenter find a match as he fights Leukemia. Carpenter, a father of four, has been with the Sheriff’s Office for 10 years. He was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in July of 2013, and after several rounds of chemotherapy, went into remission. Unfortunately, this April, doctors discovered that his disease had returned and that he needed a bone marrow transplant.
The Sheriff’s Office is asking that those aged 18-44 come to the drive and undergo a cheek swab to establish if they match. The drive will be held at the front parking lot of the Sheriff’s Headquarters at 4434 Calle Real on Friday, June 6 from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
