A father and son were rescued Sunday afternoon after they jumped from a train trestle into the ocean below and couldn’t climb out of the water on their own. The pair fell approximately 20 feet from the Surf Beach trestle, said County Fire spokesperson Capt. David Sadecki, and soon became panicked. Emergency personnel with County Fire, Lompoc’s fire department, and Vandenberg Air Force Base responded to the scene. Both men were pulled from the water and were uninjured.
