Deputies Seize Five Pounds of Meth During Traffic Stop

A Santa Clara man was arrested Saturday morning in Carpinteria after Santa Barbara Sheriff’s deputies discovered a quarter-pound of heroin and over five pounds of crystal methamphetamine in his possession.

At around 3:00 a.m., a deputy approached an illegally parked car at the intersection of Bailard and Carpinteria avenues. After discovering the car’s driver had multiple aliases, the deputy requested additional assistance. The driver was then identified as 25-year-old Johnny Salamanca-Rodriguez and found to have a warrant for his arrest out of Sunnyvale, CA.

When deputies searched Salamanca-Rodriguez’s car, they discovered heroin and methamphetamine with a street value of over $65,000. Salamanca-Rodriguez has been booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail, and his bail has been set at $100,000.
