Since reopening after renovations in February, the Sandbar Restaurant on State Street is focused on giving back to the Santa Barbara community with weekly “Feel Good Fridays,” in which proceeds from wristband purchases go directly to a selected charity. Customers can purchase a wristband for $5 throughout the week, which they can then wear to Sandbar on Fridays in order to take advantage of special discounts on drinks.

A different charity is featured each month, with the entire month of wristband sales going to that organization. For the month of May, the beneficiary was Notes for Notes, a national nonprofit organization based in Santa Barbara that equips students with musical instruments and recording equipment free of charge, so that they can pursue music even though their school may not have the resources. In June, the restaurant’s “Feel Good Fridays” will aim to benefit Relay for Life, an organization that raises funds nationwide in an effort to find a cure for cancer.

The popular restaurant and nightclub also continues to host Mojito Mondays, Tequila Tuesdays, and Big Wednesdays, where the restaurant features a live reggae band as well as a live deejay. But even these weekly events get the charitable twist thanks to the “Feel Good Margarita,” which will donate one dollar with each purchase to the charity of the month.

The recent renovations, which resulted in two bars and a larger kitchen, made the Sandbar more of an open environment and updated the furniture, sound system, and high-definition televisions to enhance the location’s vacation-like vibe. Check it out for yourself at 514 State Street; open Monday-Friday, 11-2 a.m., Saturday-Sunday, 9-2 a.m. Happy hour is 3-7 p.m. every day. Call (805) 966-1388 or see sandbarsb.com.
