Lifeguards at Jalama Beach spotted what appeared to be a large shark swimming 40 yards offshore in 15-foot water on Tuesday morning. According to a prepared statement from county officials, lifeguards witnessed both the shark’s “dark grey dorsal fin” — approximately 9-12 inches in height — and tail fin. Warning signs are in place at the Lompoc area beach for the next 72 hours until Friday morning.
