Freedom Warming Center Doors Open

Severe Cold Expected Thursday and Friday Nights

As overnight temperatures are forecast to dip down into the low 40s on Thursday and Friday, the Freedom Warming Centers are opening their doors for shelter November 26-27. The locations and times are:

• Santa Barbara: Unitarian Society of Santa Barbara, 1535 Santa Barbara Street, 6 p.m.-6 a.m.

• Santa Barbara: First Congregational Church, 2101 State Street, 7 p.m.-6 a.m.

• Isla Vista: University Methodist Church, 892 Camino Del Sur, 6 p.m.-6 a.m.

• Carpinteria: Veterans’ Memorial Building, 941 Walnut Avenue, 6 p.m.-6 a.m.

• Lompoc: Peace Lutheran Church, 1000 West Ocean Boulevard, 6 p.m.-6 a.m.

Donations are welcome, program director Ed Wesson said, especially jackets, hoodies, sweatpants, socks, gloves, and bottled water. Volunteers may call the hotline at (805) 324-2372 for more information.
