Unsympathetic

The story about parking ticket embezzler Karen Flores reminded me of some important advice my father gave me: “Never steal unless it’s more than a million” (three million with inflation now). If he were alive today he might add: “And don’t embezzle from the Police Department” and also “If you get caught, don’t waste your breath telling folks your psychological problems made you do it.”

We don’t care — not the ones who’ve gotten tickets — certainly not the ones who may have lost jobs because the lack of funds.

If she had been a member of my family, she would have known better than to only steal $250,000-$700,000. The two years would have been worth it.
