Social Media Threat Monday at Goleta Valley Junior High

An unspecified threat against Goleta Valley Junior High School was made on social media by a student at approximately 5:45 p.m. on April 11, according to a statement released by Santa Barbara Unified School District approximately 24 hours after the incident. Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department responded to the initial threat after a parent had reported it.

“[The] Sheriff responded immediately by contacting the student at their home,” according to the district’s statement. “This morning, [the district’s] administrative staff was informed . . . of the threatening message. The Sheriff’s Department is handling the investigation and working in collaboration with the district office to ensure the safety of students and staff.”
