[Update, 6:28 p.m.] Though information remains scant, it appears firefighters have the Knapp’s Castle incident under control. Radio chatter in the area has ceased as fire crews focus on the still-burning Scherpa Fire.

[Original Report] As the 1,200-acre Scherpa Fire burns along the Gaviota Coast, firefighters were dispatched to a separate wildfire on East Camino Cielo Road near Knapp’s Castle. Fire crews from Santa Barbara County, the U.S. Forest Service, and the Montecito Fire Protection District are responding to the scene. According to emergency radio communications, the blaze is the size of a football field and growing. Officials have closed East Camino Cielo Road from Painted Cave to Gibraltar roads.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
